As an Account Executive, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and write public relations plans and strategies, making proactive recommendations to clients.
- Prepare communication materials involved in the implementation of public relations programs for clients including: press releases, copy for newsletter articles, opinion editorials, and other media-related materials.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure deliverables are on time and on-budget.
- Handle special projects, new business assignments, and social/ community involvement activities.
- Manage and/or prepare content and layouts for publications, such as brochures, newsletters, and magazines as assigned.
- Provide direction and organize photo and video shoots for publications, social media channels, presentations and other communications initiatives.
- Assist the team in crisis communication situations, as directed.
- Maintaining relationships with industry and editorial contacts to assure appropriate opportunities are realized for clients.
- Staying current with news and developments in client’s industry and in related markets.
- Developing itineraries and coordinating travel logistics for clients, media and staff.
- Communicating regularly with clients on status, work in progress reports and conference call reports.
- Preparing reports for clients including activity and clipping reports, as assigned.
- Managing media and client contact databases, including the updating of contacts, and preparing and maintaining distribution lists.
- Managing online pressrooms, including uploading news releases and updating client information as directed.
- Reviewing daily media opportunities and alerting team to pertinent issues/opportunities.
The ideal candidate brings
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of the role of communications in marketing and public relations.
- Experience in executing a public relations and/or integrated marketing plan.
- Experience managing projects and leading a team.
- Crisis and issues management experience.
- Experience working with Office 365 and related applications.
- An understanding of Hawaii’s history, culture, and lifestyle.
- An active presence in the community, either through volunteering or as a member of a professional organization.
- An ability to inspire and encourage team members to do their best work.
- A high degree of professionalism.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the areas of public relations and integrated marketing.
- An ability to coordinate travel logistics.
- An understanding of budgets and general accounting processes.
- Two (2) years’ experience in marketing, public relations, media or related field, or demonstrated equivalent capability to perform the required job duties and responsibilities.
- An ability to respond well under pressure.
- A strong ability to focus on accuracy, attention-to-detail, and timeliness.
- An ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines with demanding quality requirements.
- Strong communication skills: writing, editing and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Public Relations, Media or related field/industry
