We are looking for full-time internship candidates for the Summer 2025. This four-month internship provides candidates an opportunity to apply their studies and knowledge while gaining more experience and understanding of public relations at an agency. We’ll provide a fun, fast-paced environment for learning and contributing in rewarding ways to our clients.

Internships are paid 15/an hour and can be used to earn course credit for necessary undergraduate requirements. Summer interns participate in a 12-week program starting late May through early August. Start and end dates will be determined on a case-by-case basis to accommodate academic calendars. Interns are expected to work up to 30 hours per week. Monday through Friday in a flexible, hybrid working environment (in office 2 days per week out of our Madison, WI office).

Education PR Interns will:
  • Support organizations and companies at intersection of education, policy, philanthropy and business
  • Engage the media: develop and pitch story ideas that secure coverage for our clients
  • Support effective client engagements: learning the ropes on account management
  • Write compelling content: produce written content to advance client results – and build a solid portfolio
  • Gain exposure to integrated marketing: learn how PR blends into integrated communications campaigns
Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Support media relations, including the creation of media lists, pitches, and interview prep materials
  • Research industry topics & key client issues effectively; develop landscape analyses
  • Support the development of written materials such as press releases and bylined articles
  • Maintain awards and speaking submission dashboards; flag relevant thought leadership opportunities to teams
  • Monitor, track, and report traditional media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments, flag for appropriate team members
  • Prepare initial draft of client updates, as needed and requested; deliver error-free written communication
  • Proactively consume media outlets that are relevant to client business; flag relevant news to teams
Role Specific Skills / Attributes:
  • College junior, senior or recent graduate, preferably able to travel to Madison office 2x per week
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Proficient in AP style as well as writing for business communications and public relations
  • Strong writing and editing skills or experience writing for a variety of platforms, voices and tone
  • Keen interest in a career in public relations, journalism, public affairs, or communications and marketing
  • Interest and basic knowledge of US education system (early childhood, K-12, higher education)
  • Ability to maintain self-management on projects and tasks, especially in hybrid work environments
  • Self-motivated, friendly and eager to learn
