Public Relations Account Executive – Technology PR (NYC)

LOCATION:  The Public Relations Account Executive will be based in our New York, NY office. This is a hybrid role, working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely each week. It is a full-time, direct-hire position.  Please upload your resume in PDF format only.

We’re seeking qualified metro NYC area public relations candidates to join our industry-leading technology public relations practice. You will have 3 years of progressive technology public relations work experience/internship experience (preferably in an agency setting), outstanding media relations and client account management skills, a college degree (public relations, communications, journalism), excellent writing skills, and be ready for immediate hire for this full-time position.

Our technology public relations team is one of the best in the industry. We seek candidates passionate about communications, ready to roll up their sleeves, and contribute to our team's success on behalf of clients. This is an opportunity to support media relations and implement communications campaigns for leading technology clients, including those focused on engineering, enterprise software, artificial intelligence, robotics, fintech, sustainability, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.  You will join a leading PR agency technology team with national and international B2B and B2C technology clients. You will work with a dedicated team of seasoned professionals where collaboration, diversity, hard work, creativity, kindness, and dedication to our clients are highly valued.  Everything you learn in this role will provide you with opportunities to grow your public relations skill set and career path within FINN Partners and our technology communications practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring client and competitive media coverage
  • Developing and maintaining media lists
  • Drafting pitches and conducting media outreach
  • Conducting secondary research and writing measurement report drafts
  • Supporting speaking opportunities and developing award submissions
  • Writing news releases and other editorial content
  • Supporting media briefings and events
  • Participating in team brainstorms
  • Supporting new business initiatives

Requirements:
  • 3 years of progressive Technology PR work history (PR agency-based experience is strongly preferred). 
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or journalism.
  • Experience in successful earned media relations programs with top-tier national and trade outlets; proven history of media placements and established contacts.
  • Craft compelling messages that drive business goals and elevate client programs.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting all deadlines and budget parameters, utilizing strong communication skills, project management capabilities, and proven problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills (familiar with AP style); Generates grammatically sound, client-ready communication as a skilled writer and editor.
  • Utilizes enthusiastic big-picture thinking; course-corrects and pivots when needed to achieve effective and decisive action.
  • Advises and drives results that effectively meet internal /external needs and exceed client expectations. Provides counsel to leadership and clients, even when it might be uncomfortable.
  • Effectively work as part of a team, share information freely, and support the group's common goals; be a true team player.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations/challenges.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Experience with measurement tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater) is preferred but optional.

Anticipated Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually for this full-time, direct hire position.  Commensurate with experience and is dependent upon the location.
